Sighting Report From Montgomery County

I recently got in a sighting report submitted of a possible bigfoot sighting in Montgomery County Kentucky.

In 1796, Montgomery became the 22nd county created by the Kentucky Legislature. It was named for General Richard Montgomery, an Irishman who was killed in the first volley of the attack on Quebec in 1775. Montgomery County is located in the Outer Bluegrass region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 707 to 1447 feet above sea level. In 2000 the county population was 22,554 in a land area of 198.59 square miles.

Here is the report

Understanding Cryptozoology

Bernard Heuvelmans founded the International Society of Cryptozoology (ISC) in 1982. As a philosopher of science, he never questioned whether Cryptozoology was properly a ParaScience or a pseudoscience.

Heuvelmans was a Belgian/French scientist, explorer, researcher and writer. He was born in Le Havre in northwestern France in 1916 and was raised in Belgium. He earned a doctorate in Zoology from the Free University of Brussels at the age of 23. Heuvelmans had been interested in zoological oddities for some time but he credits a 1948 Saturday Evening Post article by Ivan T. Sanderson with inspiring him to become deeply determined to explore more fully his interest in unknown animals. He wrote a book “On the track of Unidentified Animals” in 1955, published in two volumes. It has been translated into over 20 languages. Heuvelmans wrote many other books and articles, only a few of which have been translated into English. His works sold well among general audiences but saw little attention from mainstream scientists and experts.

As he continued to research into these unknown animals, he saw the need to “give a name to the totally new discipline in zoology my research implied. That is how I coined the word ‘cryptozoology’, the science of hidden animals.” He and Ivan T. Sanderson worked together to establish Cryptozoology and to give it some guidelines and definition.

Cryptozoology is divided into two subfields.

A. Deals with creatures of myths, and sagas [i.e. dragons, sirens, etc.]
B. deals with animals that are either thought to be extinct or that have yet to be discovered.

These animals are called cryptids.

There are four kinds of cryptids. Although it is still considered a parascience, the methodology of Cryptozoology mirrors that of zoology. The cryptids are subdivided into the following 4 groups.

1. Unidentified Animals : These deviate from known and identified animals to the extent that they cannot be categorized according to any existing zoological system. Examples include Mothman and bigfoot.

2. Potentially extinct animals : These are organisms that are considered to be extinct already, like some forms of modern reptiles.

3. Animals that are identical to familiar types : These appear to be a known animal except for one or two differences, perhaps due to mutation or parentage that is a mixture of more common animal varieties.

4. Known animals found in unusual places : This would be like the panthers reported in Great Britain or the Odenwald region of southern Germany. It is important to discover if these sightings are a genuine population, rather than simply an animal that has escaped from captivity.

Bernard Heuvelmans is often called The Father of Cryptozoology.

Early Morning Bigfoot Trip

27 Dec

Early Morning Bigfoot Trip

The weather has been very nice for this time of year, but on this particular morning it was rather cold. No snow, no high winds, so it was a good time to make another trip out in the mountains.

I started out my day by getting into the woods very early. I wanted to head out to my gifting spot, check it out and explore the area. I normally don’t get much action this time of year and my theory on this is that the trees are bare, in winter, so the bigfoot pull back deeper in the woods. I do still get tracks and sometimes a few tree breaks or structures.

I normally don’t share a lot of information about my gifting attempts but today I want to share just a little. I’ve been trying to gift items for a long time now…at least it feels like a long time. Over this time I have of course had many food items go missing and I don’t really know what took the items as I stopped running game cameras in the area. But some interesting things have happened. I had non food items go missing and then show back up months later. Some items still have not been returned. So I hope to continue my efforts and build up some kind of trust and hope I can get a good clear visual. Time will tell I guess.

Overall, even thought it was very cold, I had a fun day in the mountains. Here is a short video of my outing.

I hope to get back out there soon.

Thanks
~Thomas~

Bigfoot Research Trip

21 Dec

Bigfoot Research Trip

Normally this time of year I don’t get a chance to get out in the woods due to the weather being harsh. I don’t particularly like the cold temperatures anymore. But recently we have had some unusually warm days and I was able to spend a few hours out in the mountains.

The area I chose to go into is one where I have researched for years with good results. It had been roughly a months since I had been in this particular area. I was hopeful that I could find something but it had rained hard the previous night.

Once in the area I went to my gifting spot. This is an area where I have been leaving food and other items for several months. There has been some things happen during this time, like items being taken and then showing back up weeks or months later. On this day I was dropping off some apples. I normally don’t hang around at the gifting area, just drop off the items, document it with video and pictures and then go about my way.

So, with it being a pretty nice day, I explored the area and it didn’t take too long before I found some things of interest. Here is a video of the outing.

As I know some of you will probably not watch the above video all the way through or maybe at all, I want to address something I found on this day. As some of you may know, I share a post recently about some mounds of dirt that I sometimes find out in the middle of nowhere. In that post I was just showing what I have found, asking the question if other researchers had found them and if they could be bigfoto graves. Of course, some outlets jumped on this and misquoted me and the intentions of the post, which is fairly typical in the media world concerning bigfoot. The Daily Yonder, did a small piece on me and the “bigfoot graves” that I hope helped clear some of the confusion up.

With all of that said, on this particular day I found another mound, that resembled a grave, in an area I have only been in a few times over the years. This mound was approximately 9 foot long. I have no idea exactly what it is or isn’t. I just know ..”I found another one”.  All of this is in the video, it is a little hard to see due to all the fallen leaves, but it is there. I have set the video to that part, for those who didn’t make it all the way through my boring research video. Here is that segment:

I often read comments, or get ask about, digging these mounds up but that is not even a consideration to me. I have thought about taking a metal detector and going over them. And once again, I have no idea if these are something or nothing, I’m just sharing some of the stuff I find that I think is either bigfoot related or unusual. I do feel confident that bigfoot bury their dead but I have never seen it first hand. I have spoke with 2 researchers, one of which said he saw them burying one of their dead and the other who knows somewhat about how they mark the graves. But that is not the only possibility as to why we don’t find dead bigfoot. I talked about this in detail in my last book, Understanding Bigfoot.

Well, by this point I’d guess people are not reading the post or are bored to tears with the rudiments of my bigfoot research/investigations. In the video segment above I kind of rant a little about how some things are perceived within the bigfoot community. Sometimes I find it all kind of frustrating but not a lot I can do about it.

As this year is winding down, I want to reflect just a little. This year I did spend massive amounts of time out in the forest of Kentucky. I’m not a researcher who does a lot of events anyways, but for the last 2 years I have done a grand total of zero events. This is mostly due to covid and not being invited. I have nothing against events, I enjoy them for the most part, but I think a person can over do them. But I did spend a lot of time out in the mountains. I found many tracks, structures and had one visual sighting this year. I still say that you would be hard pressed to find another researcher who spends more time out in the woods than me. That is not me being arrogant at all, but I feel many really just don’t understand the amount of time I put into this endeavor. But anyways, I will leave any more “reflecting” to another post or video…but yeah I do a lot of field work.

Okay, I’ll end this borefest for now, you may go back to looking at the deluge of fake research, photographs, and videos that are all over social media. (ha ha)

Oh and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all that jazz.

Thanks
~Thomas~

Bigfoot and UFOs in Pennsylvania – Part 2

20 Dec

Bigfoot and UFOs in Pennsylvania – Part 2

October 25, 1973 – The most puzzling and most detailed encounters.

Stan Gordon became involved n the aftermath of this encounter. A State Trooper at Uniontown called him, telling him of the combination UFO landing/creature sighting. Gordon and members from the Study Group (Dennis Smeltzer, Fred Pitt, David Smith, George Lutz) arrived at the scene sometime between 1 and 1:30 am. Here is the story they were told:

The main witness, Steve Palmer, told them that around 9 pm he saw a UFO land in a pasture on his father’s farm. The UFO was described as a large red ball. In all there were 15 witnesses by the time the whole thing ended. After seeing this red ball land, Palmer got a 30.06 rifle and with two neighbor boys drove towards the area. They then parked and approached closer on foot.

The object had either landed or was hovering just above the ground. It was now glowing a bright white and appeared to be around 100 ft in diameter. They could hear what sounded like a lawn mower engine and screaming sounds. One of the boys called out that there was something moving along the fence line by the trees.

All three saw two very tall, ape-like animals with very long, muscular arms. As they advanced toward the three witnesses, they noticed glowing green eyes and could hear a crying sound. The air was filled with the smell of burning rubber.

Palmer fired several shots over the creatures’ heads, but the bullets had no effect. Then he finally fired three shots directly at one of the two creatures. When the bullets hit, the creature made a whining sound and raised it’s arms toward the other animal. At that moment the UFO disappeared, the sounds it was making stopped and the creatures slowly turned and went back into the woods.

They called the State Police and a trooper arrived at about 9:45 pm. There was now a glowing white illuminated area almost 150 ft in diameter where the UFO was said to have landed. The horses and cattle in that pasture were clustered together, avoiding that area. The men could hear something moving in the woods. By the time Gordon and his team arrived around 1:30 am, the glow was gone, but the cows and horses still would not approach the area. While investigating the area, a bull and a dog, both by their actions, seemed to sense that something strange was nearby.

Gordon, his team, and the witnesses gathered in the field to hear the story. While Palmer described his experience, his breathing changed. He began panting, heavy and deep, gave a gutteral growl, knocked both his father and Lutz to the ground, and passed out, falling to the ground with them. Pitt suffered breathing problems; Smeltzer felt faint.  All of them experienced a powerful, rotten smell of sulphur (called brimstone, in some versions). They all managed to leave the field and recovered.

Later, after he had recovered, Palmer told the investigators that while he was unconscious a “sickle-carrying, dark-robed figure” warned him that the human race was on the verge of self destruction — unless we curbed our violent instincts.

Now, before any of you start to think that Pennsylvania went a little nuts, let me assure you that the Keystone State is not alone in unusual types of encounters. There are scattered references to other UFO type phenomena/Bigfoot events throughout the years.

James C. Wyatt’s grandfather told the following story in an 1888 journal that he heard from the Native Americans. A “small moon” descended and ejected several large hair-covered creatures. The craft was piloted by very human looking beings who waved to the Indians. The Native Americans called the hairy creatures “Crazy Bears”.

Wyatt told Brad Steiger : “Who is to say the Crazy Bears weren’t exiled to our planet for some crime or other infraction of the laws of another planet?”

And we can’t ignore researcher/author Kewaunee Lapseritis who maintained that the Bigfoot race was brought to earth by the “Star People”.

Around 1912 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Mr. J. M. and his mother were picking berries on their farm when a “strange dark cloud” hovered over them, following them. Then the mother noticed a creature watching them, standing near her son. Due to the contour of the land, she could only see it from the knees up. It had a bulky head and appeared to have no neck. It was a dark color and it’s shoulders appeared to be at least twice as wide as a man’s. The mother screamed “Let’s go” and when they started to move, the creature walked a few steps with them, stopped, seemed to turn it’s body around and looked at J. M. It then made a growly, barking sound, moved a further 100 yards, then both the cloud and the creature disappeared.

August 1, 1955, Georgia : Joseph Whaley encountered a creature at least 6ft tall, covered in shaggy, grey hair with tusk-like teeth and pointed ears. He said it looked like a gorilla, but was also man-like. It grunted like a wild pig.

August, 1955, Indiana: Mrs. Darwin Johnson was accosted by a creature while swimming in the river. A large furry hand with claws grabbed her knee, pulling her under water. As she screamed and struggled, she was released and managed to get back to shore. Several people came forward and said they had seen “a shiny oval” in the sky above the river at the same time.

I will cover the Allison family story in more detail in a later post. While encountering a bigfoot on their Salem, Ohio property, Mrs. Allison had a UFO experience.

There are many more mixed encounters out there.  A little research and you can find them for yourself. One place to start is with The Crypto Crew’s “Bigfoot, UFO and More Sightings” map on Google.maps.

It’s a nice way to start to see how often the two phenomena are experienced in the same locations.

When Stan Gordon made his report on the Pennsylvania experiences he stressed that he did not believe that the creatures seen in central Pennsylvania were the same things as were involved in any Sasquatch/bigfoot reports.

And now, where do I stand on this?

In my opinion, I believe that the creatures described by these people, so similar yet different, are not bigfoot. I believe that they may be a different creature, with different physical attributes, different temperaments, different goals. I believe that the bigfoot creature that is most commonly seen is a flesh and blood creature.  Do I have proof? No. But then, neither does anyone have proof that my theory is wrong.

The best thing we all can do is to keep an open mind. Be open to what others have to say. Be open to others’ experiences. Listen to other theories. It won’t hurt us to be open to other ideas.  It can hurt the field if we refuse to learn but continue to stand stubbornly by what we want to believe. Open minded.  Not a bad concept.

Bigfoot and UFOs in Pennsylvania – Part 1

18 Dec
Artist concept, not an actual photo

Bigfoot and UFOs in Pennsylvania – Part 1

One of the most puzzling and also annoying encounters in the bigfoot world involves the UFO/Bigfoot sightings in Pennsylvania.  Some of those from the “Woo” Faction embrace the incidents as part of their proof;  while the Flesh and Blooders, unable to salvage much from the experiences, tend to dismiss them.

Hundreds of people reported encounters from around 1968, with 1973 bringing an increase in reports. One of the things that make the Flesh and Blooders grind their teeth were the descriptions of the  creatures, which included pointed ears high at the top of the head, with the head being wide and flat on top. Long, pointed fangs were reported. Arms were said to hang below the knees and they had large brightly glowing eyes.

Investigators of these reports were certain the creatures were linked to the UFOs being sighted at this same time. However, their conclusions also added that the creatures walked like men, looked like apes and lived like bears, but were not capable of flying a UFO.

Some of the more outstanding experiences include :

On July 31, 1966 at Presque Isle, a tall anthropoidal figure was seen. It left large footprints behind in the sand. Shortly before this creature was sighted, a UFO was seen to land nearby.

1973 found Stan Gordon, Director of the Westomoreland City UFO Study Group, telling of their findings on the reports from the summer of 1972. Creatures were sighted that were said to look like gorillas and baboons — 5 ft tall, hair-covered, broader in body than a human. They were also said to make a sound “like a man in pain screaming at the top of his lungs”. A major UFO flap was also reported during April and May.

A young woman called and reported her father had seen two large glowing eyes looking in his window, which was 8 ft ABOVE the ground. He also noticed an overpowering stench like rotten cucumbers. The man’s 14 year old son and his friends, while in the woods, saw a gorilla like creature walking on two legs. When Stan Gordon investigated this, he found a three-toed footprint in soft ash. He photographed and cast the print which measured 13 inces long and 8 inches wide with fat toes. It bore little resemblance to the Fouke, Arkansas prints.

Then there was a man in Beaver County near Greensburg who reported seeing an 8 ft tall gorilla-like creature with glowing red eyes peering in his window. Police were called; they found an 18in long track.

Once these experiences were publicized, the police and newspapers were flooded with “hundreds of phone calls” from other witnesses who had been afraid to talk about it.

On August 14, two men reported a huge gorilla-like creature with an odor of something long dead. August 21 a woman near Derry woke up to find a “hideous” face looking in through an open window, 9 ft off the ground. The creature’s rotten meat odor took days to fade away.

From June 1972 to February 18, 1973, Stan Gordon’s UFO group documented 118 sightings with 245 witnesses, covering Westmoreland, Alleghany, Indiana, Fayette, Washington, Beaver and Somerset counties. About 30 were in the daytime, 24 at dusk, 30 during the hours from 10-11 pm. 49 were sighted in wooded areas, 19 near trailers, 18 near houses, and only 10 on roads.  A large number of reports were discarded as being “suspect”.

Most witnesses described a strong smell, fanglike teeth, and golf ball size eyes that glowed either bright red, green or white. Most were in the 7-8 ft range, with a few said to be around 5 ft. They usually had dark colored hair, although a few were said to be a dirty white, with matted hair. The creature appeared to be curious about humans, showing no fear, even standing in front of a car and staring in at the driver.

During this time, the group also reported nearly 600 UFO sightings. Explanations were found for many of them, but an unusually large number rema
ined that seemed to involve “intelligently controlled craft displaying flight characteristics far beyond our present technology”.

There were also over a dozen reports where UFOs were seen at low level minutes before or after a creature was sighted in the same area. Other reports of UFOs spotted had a creature sighting reported within a  few days.

In early September, a man called to report that three women driving through a wooded area had seen a large, metallic rectangular object on the ground. When they stopped to look, a door opened in the side of the craft. A ramp came out and down; three ape-like, hair-covered 7 ft. tall creatures ran down the ramp and into the woods.

Next time: Part two – The best known of the Pennsylvania  Bigfoot/UFO events

The William Roe Story

16 Dec
Not an actual photo of William Roe

The William Roe Story

How different the history of Bigfoot would be if William Roe had only owned or borrowed a movie camera back in 1955.

Roe was working on a highway near the small town of Tete Jaune Cache in British Columbia, about 80 miles west of Jasper, Alberta. In October he decided to climb five miles up Mica Mountain to where an old abandoned mine was located. He reached the mine around 3 pm after an easy climb. Coming out of some brush into a clearing, he was surprised to see what he took for a grizzly bear on the other side of the clearing.

Roe decided not to shoot it, stepped back into the brush and settled down to watch the bear. He could see the top of the creature’s head and a furry shoulder. Then suddenly it moved into the clearing and stood up. His first thought was, this is not a bear. Briefly he considered that it had to be a man in a fur coat. But no, it had to be a man in a gorilla suit and a movie was being filmed, even though he had not heard of any movie being filmed in the area.

As the creature began to move across the clearing towards him, he realized this was no man. It was at least 6 ft tall, 3 foot wide, and looked to be around 300 lbs. It was covered from head to foot in dark brown, silver-tipped hair. As it came closer, he realized that it was actually a female, having breasts. It’s torso was not curved like a human female. She had a broad frame straight from shoulder to hip. Thicker than a man’s, her arms hung down around her knees. Her feet were broader than a man’s and tapered at the heel. She walked heel down first, which allowed Roe to see the bottom of her feet. The soles of her feet were a grey-brown color. She reached the edge of the clearing, about 20 feet from where Roe crouched in hiding. Squatting down, she reached out, holding the branches, and started stripping the leaves from the bushes with her teeth.

Her lips were flexible, curling around the leaves as she ate. She had white and even teeth. The nose was broad and flat. The mouth and chin protruded further than the nose. Her face was hair covered, with just the area around the eyes, mouth and nose clear. Her ears were much the same shape as a human’s; her eyes small and black, more like a bear’s. Her neck was shorter and thicker than a man’s.

After a couple of minutes, the creature seemed to catch Roe’s scent. She looked directly at him through the brush. Still squatted down, she backed up three or four steps, then stood up. Walking back rapidly towards where she had entered the clearing, she watched him over her shoulder. She didn’t appear to be frightened of him, only cautious. For a moment, he realized that if he was able to shoot this creature, scientists over the world would be anxious to see the body. He raised his rifle and took aim. She was still walking quickly away from him. She turned her head to give him one last look. Roe lowered his rifle. At this moment, he felt she was human and he would never forgive himself if he shot and killed her.

When the creature reached the other side of the brush, she threw back her head and gave a cry that seemed to be a half laugh, half language – a kind of whinny. Then she walked into a stand of lodgepole pine. Roe stepped out into the clearing to try to get another look at her. She came out onto a ridge about 200 yards away. Once again she tipped her head back and gave the half laugh, half language cry. She then disappeared into the brush and trees. William Roe never saw the creature again.

Still curious, Roe decided to search for clues about the creature. He found scat in five places and examined it. He could find no hair or shells of bugs or insects. He believed the creature to be strictly vegetarian. He discovered a place where he thought it had slept under a tree. He found no sign of use of fire or even simple tools. He also found no sign of a companion or mate.

Later he added more details in a letter to John Green. Roe said the nails were more like a man’s, short and heavy, not at all like bear claws. There were no bulging muscles, but the creature was built large. He revised his original estimates and decided the creature had to be 7 ft tall and close to 500 lbs. It was massively built with extremely long and heavy arms, huge thighs and breasts, with little indication of buttocks. It had a short neck, low head, very long from front to back. The jaws projected beyond the small nose, with a thin lower lip that stuck out further.

For lack of a camera, we have only William Roe’s account. A story of an encounter from a man considered by his peers to be an unimpeachable witness; trustworthy and reliable. Roe, an accomplished woodsman and hunter/trapper, had been familiar with North American wildlife all his life. He would not have misidentified a bear. For lack of a movie camera, we have no William Roe Footage to pave the way for the Patterson Film. We have no one-two punch in evidence for the existence of this marvelous creature. Footage from an era where “gorilla suits” were clumsy and ill-made, where “special effects” were limited and most times “hokey”, and where not many knew of the creature and had little desire to hoax a sighting.

We also turned this into a Youtube video that you can watch by Clicking Here.

Bigfoot Witness: The Jason Morse Story

14 Dec

Bigfoot Witness: The Jason Morse Story

Today I want to take just a little time and post about this upcoming film. This film is the long overdue  sequel to the original Bigfoot Witness.

In November I made the official announcement about the film on my company website, Zombie Media Publishing. But there is much more to the story.

This film has been in the works for probably 3 or 4 years. I was working on this, in the very early stages, when I started pumping out the paranormal documentaries. We were filming almost every week and in between times I was editing film.

As you can imagine this work load left very little time to work on the then titled, Bigfoot Witness 2. The project was pushed to the back burner and sometimes months would pass and I couldn’t get back to it. But over time, things slowed down a little and then Covid hit and no one wanted to be around another person. So the filming, events and everything stopped. But it gave me time to pick back up on the Bigfoot Witness 2 Project.

In some ways this was a very difficult project thanks to the long lag times, and changing standards in the film industry. The standards for films, getting them to streaming services, has changed a lot over the last 2 to 3 years. But I do enjoy the overall process, the subject matter, and working with folks who have a genuine interest in not only what the film is about but also the creative process to get it completed.

Jason Morse has had several experiences and his story needs told and I think most will enjoy this film. The film is pieced together over several years and includes his encounters, historical data  and research. It includes footage we shot specifically for the film, Jason’s field research footage and more.

So, I’m happy to release the official trailer today.

We are shooting for a early January 2022 wide release for the film. There might be some kind of limited release shortly before the wide release but that is yet to have a set date.

I hope people enjoy the film and realize that these projects are more often than not a labor of love. A passion to share a story or an idea with people.

Of course a film can find success if people support it. We didn’t have a budget, we didn’t raise funding, this was all out of pocket and a labor and passion for the story telling and film making.

Keep an eye out for the film and thanks for all the support.

Thanks
~Thomas~

Wendigo – Not Bigfoot or Sasquatch

Wendigo – Not Bigfoot or Sasquatch

A popular theory and common misconception among some in the bigfoot community is that another name for bigfoot or sasquatch is Wendigo. Let’s throw that idea away and put the Wendigo back where he belongs in his own category.

The Wendigo is a man-eating monster or evil spirit in the legends of the Algonquin people who live along the Atlantic Coast and the Great Lakes in both Canada and the United States. The creature may appear either as a monster with some characteristics of a human, or as an evil spirit who has possessed a human being.

Descriptions of the monster may vary, but common traits to all is that it is a “malevolent, cannibalistic, supernatural being”.  It is not described as a hair covered giant.

“The Wendigo was gaunt to the point of emaciation, its desiccated skin pulled tightly over its bones. With its bones pushing out against its skin, its complexion the ash gray of death, and its eyes pushed back deep into their sockets, the Wendigo looked like a gaunt skeleton recently disinterred from the grave. What lips it had were tattered and bloody [. . .] Unclean and suffering from suppurations of the flesh, the Wendigo gave off a strange and eerie odor of decay and decomposition, of death and corruption.”  —- Basil Johnston, Ojibwe teacher and scholar from Ontario, Cape Croker First Nation.

Among the Ojibwe, eastern Cree, Westmain Swampy Cree, Naskapi and Innu they will describe the Wendigo as giants many times larger than humans. When the creature eats a person, it grows in proportion to the meal it has just eaten. Therefore, it never satisfies its hunger, remaining thin due to starvation.

Some traditions say that a human overpowered by greed can turn into a Wendigo. Or by cannibalism. It is said that in times of extreme famine, that unfortunately, eating another person in order to survive was sometimes resorted to. This practice thus created the legend of the Wendigo.

Grimm

Wendigo in non-indigenous literature has colored the modern mainstream concepts of the Wendigo and contributing to the titillating idea that the Wendigo is a sasquatch or bigfoot.

From Algernon Blackwood’s “The Wendigo” to Stephen King’s “Pet Sematary” to Marvel Comics versions; and on to movies and TV series like “Teen Wolf“, “Supernatural“, “Blood Ties“, “Charmed” and “Grimm“; as well as computer games and role playing games; all these media have transformed the Native peoples legend of the Wendigo into some hairy, red-eyed, drooling, cannibal monster that has to be dealt with on a supernatural or superhuman level. Or as a hair-covered giant that marauds through the forests of North America eating humans — a monster bigfoot or sasquatch.

Supernatural

In 2019, TCC founder Thomas Marcum interviewed author, filmmaker and wendigo expert Nic Brown. Brown actually does a presentation about the wendigo at events and his books and films feature the cryptid. You can read the before mentioned interview by clicking here.

The Wendigo first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #162 (April 1973), and was created by Steve Englehart and Herb Trimpe. Englehart recalled, “I knew about the legend of the Wendigo, and thought, between his strength and his sad story, that he sounded like a good Hulk opponent.”

So, to sum it all up. Wendigo. Not a bigfoot. Not a sasquatch.

UFO Seen Near Rose Hill Virginia

Still Frame from the video

UFO Seen Near Rose Hill Virginia

We recently got in a new UFO sighting report from the Rose Hill, VA area. Rose Hill is a community located in Lee county,VA. The Rose Hill community is home to the Ely Mound. Ely Mound is a historic burial mound that is considered the best-preserved Mississippian culture site in Virginia. The mound dates to the Late Woodland-Mississippian Period (AD 1200-1650), during which more complex societies and practices evolved, including chiefdoms and religious ceremonies.

There have long been rumors of a secret, hidden military base in this area and over the years there have been many UFO reports.

What follows is the most recent report, sent in via email, along with a short video.

 -Start Report-

Hi Tom,

It’s been quite since December has started around the place, but I do have an interesting story and just a second of two clip of the event.  My youngest son and his girlfriend were headed to her house in Rose Hill VA and they told me an interesting event that happened to them on Saturday December 4th.  They were driving back to her house where she lives with her mom and noticed a light on the mountain range that runs parallel to HWY 58 in Lee county.  It was up on the mountain above it and both said they could tell it was moving but not fast initially and it happened around 8:56pm time frame. To quote her “It was a large object hovering above the mountains beaming a light into the sky as it was spinning and tilting. This video is just it spinning.”  They said they got to her house and watched it for about 10 minutes total from seeing it driving to her house.  As they got to her house they said it compressed into a small light and shot straight up into the sky.  I will attach the blip of video they managed to get and it looks like it was spinning in the blurb.

She said about a month ago she was awakened around 1:00am to what sounded like a jet engine from an airplane above her house.  I asked her if it was a plane or the sound of helicopter blades and she said no a jet engine which puzzled her because they usually are low, then get loud as they are over your position and then fade as they pass, this did not do that.  When she looked out her bedroom window she said the yard, front and back were lite up with a bright light.  She went to awaken her mom and before she could get her awake it just suddenly stopped.  She said that on more than one occasion she and her family have seen lights on the mountain or above it.  Being in Rose Hill this is past the White Rocks and there shouldn’t be anything up there especially at night, she knows of no roads or way to get up there other than a rough hike.

Attached is the very brief video they captured.

Regards!

-End Report-

[Here is the video, enhanced and looped]

A big thanks to JM for sending in the video and report.

I’m fairly familiar with the Rose Hill area and it is very much like my little corner of SE Kentucky. I have been in Rose Hill many times as it is not very far from me.

If anyone else saw these lights or have had another sighting or bigfoot encounter, then please let us know.

Thanks
~Thomas~
